Chris Stoddard says:
‘We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone…’
Starting my career as a Law Lecturer, it was a great pleasure to be able to support passionate students, helping them to get qualifications that would shape their future career. It was there that I also found my love of writing, soon moving onto become a Book Editor before setting up my own Publishing company. We sold primarily through Direct Mail, which -as I worked hard to effectively create copy that converted- enabled me to develop my writing further. After selling the company in 1983, I ‘retired’ for a couple of years- making cider in Herefordshire whilst contemplating what I wanted to do next!
With a strong desire to put my talents to good use, whilst positively impacting as many people as possible, I decided to move into charity copywriting, working with various companies to expand my knowledge, before setting up RaiseMore. This is the complete outsourced fundraising solution for small to medium charities, with the mission of giving every one of them the fundraising power of major organisations. It’s great to see the difference we make, watching small charities flourish, making a bigger impact than ever before.
As the great Winston Churchill once said: “Never, never, never give up.”
If you have a dream or a vision, you have to go for it and commit until it succeeds. Because trust me: it’s worth it.
I have since become a multi award-winning copywriter of charity direct mailings (Gold, Silver & Bronze in Direct Response Creative Awards for Help the Aged, WWF & BTCV respectively); I’ve also had the pleasure of contributing to The Open University course on Fundraising & have written a vast array of publications alongside speaking at fundraising conferences all over the world.
They say, ‘do what you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life’ and it couldn’t be more true. When you add this to being able to give back to others in the process, well- there really is no better feeling.
